Generator - Artist in Residence June - September 2021
The residency was a great way to work with different tools and audiences, and connect more with people and ideas. I am grateful to be a part of the Generator community, learning from other people, learning about the materials I work with, and learning how to bring the work into better alignment with my goals for creating more health and beauty.
In researching the plastics I had been working on for a long time, I learned about new laws that could change the tide on the mess of plastics being made. For Art Hop I created a large ‘underwater’ plastic seascape to explore and photograph to spread the word about Extended Producer Responsibility – new laws to grapple with and soothe the interconnected issues of health, climate, economy, and planet.
I continue to explore the laser cutter to see what can be done with Tetrapak that theoretically recyclable, non recycled material that is used to make boxes for milks (soy, oat, etc.) broth, etc.

Float through a plastic underwater landscape. Mesmerizing plastics reworked and inspired by plankton. Plastics break into smaller and smaller bits and are mistaken as plankton. They move up our food chain, eaten by larger and larger creatures, including humans.
